rdev is designed so that we know as little as possible about your work.
License and update checks
The rdev software on your server contacts our servers to check your license and to download updates. These requests contain:
- your license identifier;
- a server identifier;
- the installed rdev version;
- timestamps, and the IP address the request comes from.
Panel features
To show your projects, sync settings and server health on the panel, your server also sends:
- the names of the project folders in
~/Code, and the names (never the values) of the variables in their.envfiles; - every few seconds, its CPU, memory, disk and network figures, load and uptime, which we delete after 24 hours, keeping hourly averages for 30 days; and once a day the number of pending system updates and whether a restart is needed. You can turn these reports off per server (Server health);
- the state of each agent session (working, waiting for you, finished, error) with the agent's name, a session id and the project folder's name, kept for a week (AI agents);
- the ids and times of each project's checkpoints, and the ids and times of your backups with the names of the databases in them, so you can restore from the panel (Backups);
- whether the server joined a tailnet and whether a laptop ever synced with it, for the setup guide on your dashboard.
What we never collect
We do not receive your code, project files, databases, environment variables or AI agent conversations. We never join your Tailscale network, and we do not see your Anthropic or OpenAI usage.
Your account
